Masan Gagopa Chrysanthemum Festival is Changwon's signature autumn celebration, held annually since 2000 to promote Masan's renowned chrysanthemums and boost industry growth. Masan holds a distinguished place in Korean horticultural history: six local farmers pioneered the nation's first commercial chrysanthemum cultivation here in 1961, and in 1972, Masan shipped Korea's first chrysanthemum export to Japan.
