This English version is a convenience translation provided for non-Korean-speaking users. It is not the official version of this Privacy Policy. In the event of any conflict or ambiguity between this translation and the original Korean text, the Korean version shall control and is the sole legally binding document.

Introduction

BAKBING (hereinafter the "Service") regards the personal information of its users as important and complies with applicable law.

1. Information Collected

The Service collects the following personal information:

  • Required: email address, nickname
  • When posting without an account: a public nickname (or a random nickname if left blank), a one-way password hash, a connection country code, IP-based abuse-prevention records, and a signed cookie that reconnects the author in the same browser. We do not collect email addresses from new guest authors. Fingerprints from earlier email-based guest posts remain under the existing retention policy.
  • Country shown on comments: the country you connected from when you signed up (members) or when you first commented (without an account) is shown as a flag next to your nickname. Only the country code worked out from the IP address is stored, not the IP address.
  • Automatically collected: connecting IP address, cookies, device information, usage records, including IP-based abuse-prevention records
  • Upon purchase or download of a PDF Phrasebook: payment email address, download timestamp / IP address / device information, download count, and selected language

PDF Watermark Notice: The purchaser's email address is printed as a watermark on every page of a purchased PDF. This is for the purpose of tracing unauthorized redistribution and preventing abuse; this information is not shared externally.

2. Purpose of Collection

  • Member identification and management
  • Provision and operation of the Service
  • Prevention of fraudulent use
  • Advertising and statistical analysis
  • Comments without an account: showing the author, confirming the author for writing, editing and deletion; reconnecting the author in the same browser; and preventing abuse

3. Retention and Use Period

  • Deleted immediately upon withdrawal of membership
  • Guest-author information and legacy email fingerprints are kept until deletion is requested. The author-connection cookie lasts up to 180 days after the latest write that confirmed the password. Ending the connection or losing the cookie or password prevents continuing under that name; earlier posts can still be managed from their management view with the password. Deleting a post does not itself remove the author record; use the contact page to request that.
  • Except that, where retention is required under applicable law, information will be retained for the period so required

4. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

The Service does not, in principle, provide personal information to third parties.

An exception applies where such provision is requested pursuant to applicable law.

In addition, behavioral information is sent through the Meta Pixel as described in Article 6-1, subject to the user's settings; users can refuse this at any time.

5. Consignment of Personal Information Processing

To facilitate smooth processing of paid transactions, the Service consigns the processing of personal information as follows.

  • Consignee: Lemon Squeezy Software Inc. (United States)
  • Scope of consigned work:
    • Payment and refund processing
    • Management of recurring payments (subscriptions)
    • Calculation and remittance of global taxes (VAT / sales tax)
    • Issuance of payment receipts and invoices
  • Items processed: email address; payment information (card numbers are handled directly by the Payment Processor and are not held by the Service); transaction records and amounts
  • Retention period: Until withdrawal of membership or termination of the consignment agreement, except that, where retention is required under applicable law (such as the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, the Commercial Act, etc.), information will be retained for the period so required.

By proceeding with payment, a member is deemed to have consented to the above consignment. A member may refuse consent, in which case the member will not be able to use Paid Services.

6. Advertising and Use of Cookies

The Service may use third-party advertising services such as Google AdSense, which may deliver personalized advertising through cookies.

Users may refuse to store cookies through their browser settings.

6-1. Collection and Use of Behavioral Information, and How to Refuse It (Meta Pixel)

The Service uses the Meta Pixel to measure the performance of its ads on Meta (Facebook, Instagram) and to show relevant ads to people who have visited the Service.

  • Behavioral information collected: addresses of the pages visited, time of visit, certain actions on the Service (viewing a product page, clicking through to a partner shop, copying a discount code, reading a NOW post for 30 seconds or more), browser and device information, IP address, and Meta's cookie identifier. Information that directly identifies you, such as your name, email address or phone number, is not sent to Meta.
  • How it is collected: the Meta Pixel script in your browser sends it automatically while you use the Service.
  • Purpose: measuring ad performance, showing tailored ads to visitors of the Service (retargeting), and optimizing who sees our ads.
  • Who collects and processes it: Meta Platforms, Inc. (United States) and its affiliates (for users in Europe, Meta Platforms Ireland Limited). The information may be processed outside your country, including in the United States, and Meta's processing is governed by Meta's Privacy Policy.
  • Retention: the Service does not separately store the information sent through the Meta Pixel; Meta retains it under its own policies.
  • How to refuse: open "Privacy choices" at the bottom of any page and switch off "Affiliate, ads & personalization"; the Meta Pixel then stops sending (the setting is saved in the browser you are using). For visitors from the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, or when the country cannot be determined, it is used only if you switch it on yourself. A browser's Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal is also treated as a refusal. Switching it off does not delete information already sent to Meta. You can also adjust tailored ads in your Facebook and Instagram ad settings.
  • US users: under some state laws, such as California's, this kind of sharing may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. Switching the setting above off is handled as your request to opt out (Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information).
  • The Meta Pixel is not used on administrator pages or on pages that may carry account information, such as sign-in, account and purchase-confirmation pages.

7. Measures to Protect Personal Information

  • Minimizing personnel access to personal information
  • Encryption and security measures
  • Establishment of internal management standards

8. User Rights

Users may request to view, correct, or delete their personal information at any time.

9. Privacy Officer

  • Officer: Service Administrator
  • Contact: the inquiry page within the Service

10. Effective Date

This Privacy Policy is effective as of January 28, 2026. The amended policy introducing the payment processor consignment (adding Article 5) is effective as of May 1, 2026. The items on comments without an account are effective as of October 15, 2026. The Meta Pixel item (Article 6-1) is effective as of October 16, 2026.

Note: The effective date may be adjusted to align with the actual launch date of the payment system.
