Masan Gagopa Chrysanthemum Festival is Changwon's signature autumn celebration, held annually since 2000 to promote Masan's renowned chrysanthemums and boost industry growth. Masan holds a distinguished place in Korean horticultural history: six local farmers pioneered the nation's first commercial chrysanthemum cultivation here in 1961, and in 1972, Masan shipped Korea's first chrysanthemum export to Japan. Built on the region's mild climate and cultivation expertise, the festival celebrates the rich history of Masan's chrysanthemum industry through vibrant exhibitions and creative artworks. The 26th edition takes place across 3·15 Haeyangnu'ri Park, Happo Waterfront Park, and Marine New Town. Centered on spectacular chrysanthemum displays, the festival features multimedia fireworks shows, maritime fireworks displays, and the Gugkhang Gayo Song Festival, plus indie music performances, local cultural programs, bonsai exhibitions, chrysanthemum dance and cheerleading, interactive experiences, and seaside dining.
