Yesterday’s KGMA awards show looks like an all-time demand forecasting fail

The empty seats got fans talking, with many blaming KGMA’s steep prices, weak lineup, and extremely short idol stages.

They opened up 16000 seats and couldn’t even fill 3,000.

People said the tickets were way too expensive for Gocheok, and there weren’t any boy groups with fandoms big enough to fill the seats.

Seeing this makes me think K-pop really is dying.

It’s not even a solo concert, it’s a joint awards show where my faves would perform for 10 minutes at most, maybe barely over 10. The weird ones are the people paying that much to go lolllll. Before COVID, awards shows like this cost 10,000 or 20,000 won and even resale tickets were around 50,000, so at least I’d think, “Should I go check it out?” lol. Unless you’re in the front rows on the floor at Gocheok, you’re basically paying to watch your faves’ faces on the big screen, so why would anyone pay that much?

I was in B4 and couldn’t see a thing, so the longer the show went on, the angrier I got, and I wanted to cry. They could’ve at least planned the routes so everyone went around the extended stage during the all-artist stage, but they didn’t even do that. I’m never coming to an awards show like this again. I hate it most when they treat the audience like a joke.
