Privacy Policy

Information about the collection and use of personal data.

This English version is a convenience translation provided for non-Korean-speaking users. It is not the official version of this Privacy Policy. In the event of any conflict or ambiguity between this translation and the original Korean text, the Korean version shall control and is the sole legally binding document.

Introduction

BAKBING (hereinafter the "Service") regards the personal information of its users as important and complies with applicable law.

1. Information Collected

The Service collects the following personal information:

  • Required: email address, nickname
  • Automatically collected: connecting IP address, cookies, device information, usage records
  • Upon purchase or download of a PDF Phrasebook: payment email address, download timestamp / IP address / device information, download count, and selected language

PDF Watermark Notice: The purchaser's email address is printed as a watermark on every page of a purchased PDF. This is for the purpose of tracing unauthorized redistribution and preventing abuse; this information is not shared externally.

2. Purpose of Collection

  • Member identification and management
  • Provision and operation of the Service
  • Prevention of fraudulent use
  • Advertising and statistical analysis

3. Retention and Use Period

  • Deleted immediately upon withdrawal of membership
  • Except that, where retention is required under applicable law, information will be retained for the period so required

4. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

The Service does not, in principle, provide personal information to third parties.

An exception applies where such provision is requested pursuant to applicable law.

5. Consignment of Personal Information Processing

To facilitate smooth processing of paid transactions, the Service consigns the processing of personal information as follows.

  • Consignee: Lemon Squeezy Software Inc. (United States)
  • Scope of consigned work:
    • Payment and refund processing
    • Management of recurring payments (subscriptions)
    • Calculation and remittance of global taxes (VAT / sales tax)
    • Issuance of payment receipts and invoices
  • Items processed: email address; payment information (card numbers are handled directly by the Payment Processor and are not held by the Service); transaction records and amounts
  • Retention period: Until withdrawal of membership or termination of the consignment agreement, except that, where retention is required under applicable law (such as the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, the Commercial Act, etc.), information will be retained for the period so required.

By proceeding with payment, a member is deemed to have consented to the above consignment. A member may refuse consent, in which case the member will not be able to use Paid Services.

6. Advertising and Use of Cookies

The Service may use third-party advertising services such as Google AdSense, which may deliver personalized advertising through cookies.

Users may refuse to store cookies through their browser settings.

7. Measures to Protect Personal Information

  • Minimizing personnel access to personal information
  • Encryption and security measures
  • Establishment of internal management standards

8. User Rights

Users may request to view, correct, or delete their personal information at any time.

10. Effective Date

This Privacy Policy is effective as of January 28, 2026. The amended policy introducing the payment processor consignment (adding Article 5) is effective as of May 1, 2026.

Note: The effective date may be adjusted to align with the actual launch date of the payment system.
