Hello (An-Young) in Seoul

What happened

IVE's official channel posted a Shorts clip of members An Yujin and Jang Wonyoung as the duo An-Young. The clip's title adds "IN SEOUL," and apart from music its only captioned words frame it as an "off the record" late-night conversation.

Why Koreans care

The pair name works as wordplay: 안녕 (annyeong, the casual word for hello and goodbye) is written beside the romanization "An-Young." With the tags for An Yujin and Jang Wonyoung, it reads as a blend of the two names (An from An Yujin's surname, Young from the end of Wonyoung). Commenters add the plural-style ending 즈 (jeu, like an English "-z") to make the nickname 안녕즈 (annyeongjeu, roughly "the An-Youngs"), which about half of the top comments use. The input does not say whether An-Young is an official unit name or a fan pairing nickname, only that the group's own channel puts it in the title.

In the Korean comments

Majority: Most top comments are short praise built around the nickname, such as "Long live An-Youngz!!!!" and "Our An-Youngz, pretty today as always. Just looking at you makes me smile on its own." Minority: A few commenters read the late-night mood as grown-up and goddess-like: "Both of them give off a mature grown-woman feel, and that is insanely good," and "Goddess duo." This angle appears in only one or two comments. Fandom: Some comments are protective or pleading. One commenter writes, "Wonyoung unnie (older sister), hang in there. In some video they say unnie is tone-deaf." Another begs the duo to join a trend: "FREAKD OUT: please, please join this trend! Please, everyone, An Yujin, Wonyoung, please." What the words mean

Two readings are easy to get wrong. First, 개좋네 (gaejonne, "damn good") in one top comment: the prefix 개 (gae, literally "dog") works as a casual intensifier like "insanely," so it is strong praise, not an insult. Second, the 음치 (eumchi, tone-deaf) comment: the ending 래요 (raeyo, "they say") marks it as hearsay, so the commenter is passing on that someone in another video called Wonyoung tone-deaf and comforting her. A foreign viewer could take this as a settled fact or a widespread criticism, but it is one second-hand remark, and nothing in the input rates her singing either way.
