Showtaros Perfect Stage at RIIZE Fan Meeting

What happened

The RIIZE channel posted a video titled "Hit 'Em" and tagged it #SHOTARO and #RIIZE_FANMEETING. The auto-captions catch a line that repeats, "Hit them where it hurts," along with lines such as "I let you go first. I'll do worse." and "Leave you in the dirt. Put in work."

In the Korean comments

Some of the Korean-language comments point at something specific. One reads, in translation, "When it comes to hitting the chest, I've seen very few people land it precisely on the bass, and I fainted at that detail." Another, in translation, puts it as "a tidy outfit with a destructive dance." A third says the part after this is even better and thanks Shotaro, whom the comment calls 타로 (Taro), for doing it several times at the fan meeting.

What the words mean

소화 (sohwa) literally means digestion. One comment reads, in translation, "As expected, Taro. To think he can pull off this dance!! He dances so well." Here 소화 (sohwa, pull off convincingly; handle well) means handling a dance, role or outfit convincingly. It is ordinary Korean rather than slang, and the tone is surprised admiration. 기절 (gijeol) literally means fainting. A comment about hitting the chest on the bass ends with "디테일에 기절" (diteire gijeol, "fainted at the detail"). The fainting is a figure of speech for being overwhelmed by how good something is. The register is casual, exaggerated and admiring. 미쳤어 (michyeosseo) literally means "has gone mad". In "쇼타로 미쳤어" (Shotaro michyeosseo, "Shotaro has gone mad") and "힘 미쳤음" (him michyeosseum, "the strength is insane"), it is strong praise. The ㄷㄷㄷ (deoldeoldeol, trembling) typed after the second is shorthand for the sound of shaking. The register is casual and exaggerated.
