What happened

The RESCENE members went live on the channel after a university festival appearance. In the captions they eat ice cream, and one member says it was sent by the company's 대표님 (daepyonim, CEO). They also chat about the festival and joke about who counts as a "visual" in the group.

Why Koreans care

The captions say the live started because of the mood after the festival. One member says they switched it on on the way back, and that after being so warmly received they felt a bit empty once they were back at the dorm. Another says they were singing ballads among themselves and decided to go live. The members also compare live formats. One says landscape suits a three-person live better, because in portrait mode people get cropped out of the frame if nobody pays attention to it. The captions also show a running bit about "비주얼즈" (bijueoljeu, "visuals," a play on the idea of the group's visual member). One member says another had announced the answer beforehand. Another says two of the others may not even call themselves visuals. Then a member says there are actually four visuals.

In the Korean comments

One comment ties into the visuals bit: "비주얼즈에 센터는 메이가 맞았다" (bijueoljeu-e senteo-neun Mei-ga majatda). In translation: "May really was the center of the visuals." Other comments also single out May. One says, in translation, that their heart flutters every time May leans in close to read comments. Another gives a timestamp for May's looks. Two comments credit the members with playing two university festivals in one day and still going live. One reads, in translation, "What kind of person does two university festivals and then a live stream." A third comment, from someone who says they were at a festival, gives a timestamp and calls it "a dreamlike day" in translation. One commenter compares RESCENE to another girl group. In translation: "It's the first girl group where every member is my favorite." They add that they'd like the group even if the members ate whatever they wanted and gained weight, or overslept and ran late.

What the words mean

"찢었어요" (jjijeosseoyo) literally means "tore it up." Here it is slang for "absolutely killed it," said about the festival performance. The captions have a member say the festival was intense, and another say the students "찢어 주셨어" (jjijeo jusyeosseo), meaning the students tore it up for them, so the crowd is credited too. The register is casual and enthusiastic. The captions also have the members bickering over "요구르트" (yogureuteu, yogurt) and "야구르트" (yagureuteu). One member says to ask the delivery lady for "야그루트" (yagureuteu), and if there is none, for "요구르트." (yogureuteu, yogurt) The captions are auto-generated, so the spellings are unreliable. The second word sounds like a variant of the Yakult brand name, which Korean speakers usually say as 야쿠르트 (yakureuteu). The joke is over the brand-style name versus the plain word for yogurt. The tone is playful teasing.
