Eunchae Shines in 'Made My Night'

What happened

LE SSERAFIM's channel posted a short clip titled "When 'Made My Night' comes on" with the hashtag #MadeMyNight. The auto captions pick up the lines "You just made my night. I'm feeling better now" and "Baby's got me high."

In the Korean comments

The comments are specific about who and what they are watching. Two of the top ones single out Eunchae's look. One says the hat suits her: "은채 모자 잘어울려" (Eunchae mojа jal-eoullyeo, "the hat really suits Eunchae"). The other calls her outfit "근래 본 최고의 멋쁨" (geunrae bon choego-ui meotppeum, in translation, "the best meotppeum I've seen lately"). 멋쁨 (meotppeum, stylish-pretty blend) blends 멋짐 (stylish) and 예쁨 (pretty). Another commenter describes a particular moment. In translation, they write that when the person looks at the watch and then looks up, "it feels like they're looking at me, so my heart flutters every time I watch." The comment doesn't say who this is, and it is one viewer's reaction. A separate comment teases someone it calls "제니퍼" (Jennifer): "저저 끼부리는 제니퍼 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 귀여워" (in translation, "look at Jennifer flirting, so cute").

What the words mean

"끼부리는" (kkiburineun) comes from 끼부리다 (kkiburida). The 끼 (kki) is a person's flair or knack for performing, and 부리다 (burida, to display, show off) means to put something on display. Literally, it is "showing off one's flair." In everyday Korean it means playful, flirty showing off. Here it is affectionate teasing: the same comment adds "ㅋㅋㅋㅋ" (laughter) and "귀여워" (gwiyeowo, "so cute"), so it reads as a compliment, not a criticism. The other slang term in the sample is "심쿵" (simkung), a sound-word for the heart thumping. The commenter uses it for a flutter at being looked at, and it is casual and exaggerated.
