The Pohang Marine Corps Culture Festival is Korea’s leading military culture festival, held in Pohang—the birthplace of the Marine Corps and home to the 1st Marine Division—to share Marine Corps history and spirit with citizens and visitors. Rooted in the spirit of cooperation built between the Marine Corps and the local community, it celebrates the strength of the Ghost-Catching Marines and the meaning of national service through culture everyone can enjoy. Held annually throughout Pohang, the festival features rare military equipment displays, military band and honor guard performances, and a military parade. Hands-on Marine Corps activities, family and veterans’ programs, participatory performances, and food markets offer something for every generation. Active and retired Marines, their families, residents, and travelers come together in celebration. By turning Pohang’s distinctive Marine Corps heritage into a tourism resource, the festival also supports the local economy and enhances the city’s brand.
