Muslim middle school student who wrote a letter to Daehyeon-dong residents in Daegu
A Muslim middle school student wrote to Daehyeon-dong residents asking for respect amid a local mosque dispute.

To the residents of Daehyeon-dong Hello, everyone. I’m a foreign student in my second year of middle school, and I’m Muslim. We understand that the issue with the mosque lately has made you uncomfortable. But Islam is our duty and essential to our survival. Just as there are things you absolutely have to do to live, like eating food or drinking water, believing in Islam is essential to us. Islam also teaches us a positive and proper way of life. Not just me—every Muslim in Daehyeon-dong has hoped for a mosque in Daehyeon-dong for the past 10 years. Muslims who came here from all different places had a difficult journey and have lived through hardships. Stopping the construction of this mosque would be the same as stopping and destroying our hope. How about all of us showing consideration and respect for one another’s hopes? A peaceful, beautiful world with no social conflict, controversy, or discrimination, where different countries, religions, and races are respected and everyone has rights. My dream is a world where everyone lives together. But that is almost impossible. Still, if we want to live even a little more like that, we have to respect different cultures. And respecting different cultures means you also need to show consideration for our mosque. We have rights too.... Thank you for reading. They say this is a letter that was sent to residents of Daehyeon-dong, Daegu

Did you leave your rights in our keeping or something? Fulfill your own obligations first, then demand rights.
Shouldn’t consideration and respect go both ways? Islam doesn’t show consideration or respect for other countries or cultures, especially women... And how is religion essential to survival in the 21st century? You know it isn’t...
They won’t concede even 1 thing and only make demands lolllll. Seriously, do they think we owe them something?
