Netflix shares plunge in the US… Will its 80 billion won Korean drama be a hit?

Meanwhile, a new series made on a massive budget is about to be released in Korea. According to industry sources, Show Business reportedly cost around 80 billion won to produce. With competition among global streaming platforms so fierce, there’s also plenty of interest in how well the series will do. Set against the Korean entertainment industry from the 1960s through the 1980s, it follows the lives of people dreaming of success. Min-ja (Song Hye-kyo), who grew up in poverty, enters the record business, while childhood friend Dong-gu (Gong Yoo) stays by Min-ja’s side as they forge a future together. Kim Seol-hyun plays Min-hee, who has a complicated relationship with Min-ja, while Cha Seung-won plays star composer Seok Gil-yeo.
