I don’t even want to associate with people who talk about being disappointed over a life growing inside someone else, but how can you feel that way about your own child? lol. The baby is the one who should be disappointed... The baby had no choice and ended up with someone like you as a parent... I feel so sorry for the kid.

I can see how the person who wrote this ended up thinking that way, since both families desperately want a son, and even the poster’s mother calls a daughter a “household asset.” You can tell how much son preference surrounded the poster growing up. Still, I hope that after giving birth and raising the baby, the poster comes to their senses and becomes a mother who protects her daughter from the world before those supposedly wonderful boys start picking on her.

Seeing both the poster’s parents and in-laws react that way, I guess the whole family atmosphere is like that. But these days I’ve also seen lots of videos where people say they wanted a daughter and feel disappointed and sad that it’s a son T_T, and those only get comments saying having a son is unfortunate and daughters are the best. Honestly, parents can’t choose their baby’s sex; it’s just decided at random. Whether it’s a daughter or a son, thinking one is good or bad and then openly telling other people instead of keeping it to yourself looks bad either way.
