Wait, Busan folks, do Busan honey rice cakes really look like this????????
A Busan honey rice cake photo has commenters comparing the syrup-soaked kind with the colorful honey songpyeon they grew up knowing.

Seriously??? I've never seen the one on the left before;;;
When I hear honey rice cakes, I picture those colorful ones, and now you're telling me they're honey songpyeon? 🤯
I thought Busan people were big on loyalty 😭 I'm so disappointed 😭 Why didn't you tell us 😭
Flat kind or songpyeon-shaped kind?

Flat kindExactly. Someone once said honey rice cakes and then brought out songpyeon, and I was baffled. That's songpyeon.
Songpyeon-shaped kindI've tried the rice cake on the left before, but I don't think it was called honey rice cake. To me, honey rice cakes were songpyeon-shaped. I think they sold it under a name like honey jeolpyeon.

These days, people come from all over the country for the Gupo Market honey rice cakes on the left—the ones there are even more soaked than that—and the line is insane, so you can't get any without reserving lol. The right is honey songpyeon lol. I'm from Busan.
