They say Busan is blowing up worldwide lately (p)
Busan’s tourism boom is suddenly impossible to miss, with locals noticing more international visitors from Haeundae to nearby mountains.

It’s suddenly become a hot global travel destination, with searches surging and everything
Busan already had a record number of tourists last year, but this year’s total passed that before the year was even over

Busan’s tourism boom: exciting or exhausting?

ExcitingIt used to be mostly Chinese and Japanese visitors, but for the past few years I’ve been seeing sooooooooo many Westerners. I hope lots of people come from every country 😭 I feel proud every time I see them
ExhaustingI live in a residential area wedged between tourist spots, and there are tons of international visitors even right outside my place. So many people call taxis from Cheongsapo that you can’t get one. For short trips, you have to add 3,000 won just to finally get a ride. At the Olive Young in Haeundae, they speak to me in English and actually ask if I’m Korean

I’m from Busan, and it kind of feels like a secret hangout I’d hidden my whole life has been exposed. lol And now the whole world knows about it? lmao I’ll shuffle out in slippers to get pork and rice soup near my place, and I still can’t get used to seeing customers from so many countries that I can’t tell if I’m in China, the US, or Japan. Still, with the drone shows and all the festivals in Gwangalli, Suyeong-gu seems to be doing a good job. Go earn lots of foreign currency. That’s how I feel. Well, since it’s come to this, prosper, my hometown Busan!!! Hey!!!
No, but there are so many that it’s exhausting 😭... With all the international visitors, Gamcheon Culture Village seems to have lost some of its unique character, and some shops have signs written only in random foreign languages... Even when I pay to visit an expensive sauna, sometimes people in Chinese tour groups watch videos with their phone volume all the way up, or don’t look after children running around
