Why you shouldn’t casually decant cosmetics
Fans are rethinking travel decanting after learning that cosmetic formulas and their original packaging are designed and tested together.

Formulas with lots of alcohol and oils and complex formulations, like foundation or sunscreen, are completely off-limits. The container material can be an issue, and the formula itself can break down, ruining that smooth texture.

Fragranced products lose their scent.

The absolute limit of what you might occasionally be able to decant is toner or essence.

Since cosmetics are chemical products, apparently even the container designed to store that complex mixture safely—or stably—is part of the product design. So decanting is absolutely not recommended.
Someone actually transferred it to another container, and then

chemicals leached out of the dropper’s rubber, turning the oil? black. Please watch the whole video.

The container is the star of a cosmetic product. There’s a reason it comes in that particular container. The product only gets released after months of compatibility testing between the container and the contents, so you should never casually decant it. Especially functional cosmetics or anything fragranced. Never ever...
I used to carry hand cream decanted into a Daiso container, but when I went to use it, the container was cracked. (I’d never dropped it even once.) Was this why..? Wow
Body oil keeps dripping everywhere and making things slippery, so it’s a total pain to apply, and I was going to decant it.... Then make the original container easier to use with a pump or something. I wouldn’t decant it if you did 😭
