What happened

Why Koreans care

The captions show the group thanking 몬스티즈 (Monstiz, BABYMONSTER's fandom) right after the award. One Korean-language comment reads, in translation, "Our Baemon kids tore up the TIMA stage. They tear everything apart whenever they do a stage." The original is "울 베몬이들 TIMA 무대 찢었어 멘날 무대만 하면 다 찢어놓음" (ul bae-mon-i-deul, our Baemon members) (mudae jjireosseo, tore stage, slang for great performance). 베몬 (Baemon) is a short nickname for BABYMONSTER. Another comment says that Asa was reportedly in poor condition. It reads, in translation, "if she's like this, it's just crazy, and at full condition, wow... even at an international awards show, a carnivore holding a microphone showed up." The comment does not say what the problem was. Nothing in the supplied captions confirms it either. A third comment suggests a content idea: Asa could make Japanese-food lunchboxes and visit the Japanese members of other teams one by one. The comment doesn't say why. What the words mean

찢었어 (jjijeosseo) literally means "tore it." In fan slang about performances, "찢다" (to tear) means someone performed outstandingly, roughly "killed it" or "ripped the stage apart." The tone is casual, enthusiastic praise. The commenter also uses the related 다 찢어놓음 (da jjijeonoheum, "tears it all up") to say this happens every time they perform.
