What happened

This is a short from BABYMONSTER's official channel, titled "I like you...". The description tags it #AHYEON. The auto-captions pick up the lines "I like to be everything you want," "Hey girl, let me talk to you," "If I was your boyfriend, never let you go," and "Keep you on my arm."

In the Korean comments

One comment answers the title directly. It reads, in translation, "I like you too," and the original is "나도 너 좋아해" (nado neo joahae). Another comment says it was written as a school assignment. In translation, the writer introduces themself as a fifth-grader at an elementary school who was asked to write a 선플 (seonpeul, a kind comment) for Korean class. They say they are a 몬스티즈 (Monstiez, the name they use for BABYMONSTER's fans) and thank the group for its new songs. The comment names 슈가허니 아이스티 (Sugar Honey Iced Tea) and the choreography. This is the writer's own account of why they commented, and nothing in the sample confirms it. A third comment plays on the title. In translation, it reads, "This song is about you." The original is "이 노래는 당신에 관한 노래입니다" (i noreaneun dangshin e gwanhan norae; this song is about you).

What the words mean

Two of the comments use the pattern 얼마나 (eolmana, how much; used in affectionate exclamations) ~ (eolmana, literally "how much / how ~"). One reads "그녀는 얼마나 아름다운가" (geunyeoneun eolmana areumdaunga, literally "how beautiful is she?"). Another reads "아현이는 얼마나 예쁘고 귀여울까" (Ahyeon-i-neun eolmana yeppeugo gwiyeoulkka, literally "how pretty and cute might Ahyeon be?"). Neither is a real question. Both are exclamations meaning "she is so beautiful" and "Ahyeon is so pretty and cute". The first, with its -ㄴ가 (ga, exclamatory particle; formal tone) ending, sounds a little formal or literary. The second, with -ㄹ까 (kka, exclamatory particle; conversational), sounds softer and more conversational. Both are affectionate praise. The word 선플 (seonpeul) is also worth explaining. It joins 선 (good) with 플 (pul, short for reply or comment), short for 리플 (reply, i.e. comment), so it literally means "good reply". It is the opposite of 악플 (akpeul, a malicious comment). Here it means a kind, encouraging comment, the sort a school might assign.
