[TOUR-LOG] EP07 #LIA #MANILA | ITZY 3RD WORLD TOUR 'TUNNEL VISION'

What happened

In episode 7 of ITZY's "TOUR-LOG" series for the 'TUNNEL VISION' world tour, Lia films herself arriving in Manila. She says she came down with a cold after flying back to Korea following the previous weekend's concert, and that her throat is better now. She calls the Manila stop "one night at the hotel" but almost three days including the trip back. After the concert the group waits at the venue and goes straight to the airport.

Why Koreans care

Lia brought a boxed lunch from Korea because she wanted rice and Korean food for her first meal of the day. In the captions she identifies it as gochujang samgyeopsal (spicy-paste pork belly) and what looks like ox bone soup. The on-screen caption reads "Gochujang & Sagol to satisfy my Korean palate." 사골 (sagol) is the Korean name for the beef leg-bone broth. She also says that with no rehearsal until 7 p.m., she considered a mall walk but chose to rest indoors before the next day's concert.

In the Korean comments

When Lia asks on screen why cold symptoms get worse at night ("Anyone know why? Comment below!"), one commenter answers with a timestamp of 0:51. In translation, they suggest that Manila's humid climate leaves the nasal passages relatively dry, so moisture forms inside and causes the sniffling. This is one commenter's own guess. The sample does not show whether it is correct. Another commenter posts a list of timestamps under the label 눈 정화 (nunjeonghwa, "eye cleansing"), meaning moments they find easy on the eyes. They tell everyone to loop the 10:21 mark "infinitely." A third writes, in translation, that they became a fan because of Lia and are now a fan of all five members. They cite the group's performances, the friendship between members, and "good character."

What the words mean

Two comments play on the fan name. One reads "있지 믿지 날자아아" (itji mitji najaaa), and another reads "난 믿지도 아닌데 있지를 응원한다네" (in translation, "I'm not even a MIDZY, but I support ITZY"). 있지 (itji) is how ITZY is written in Hangul. It is also an ordinary verb ending meaning roughly "there is." 믿지 (mitji) is the Hangul spelling of the fan name MIDZY. It looks like a form of the verb 믿다 (mitda, to believe), but here it is just the fan name. The pair rhymes, which is why commenters chant them together. The tone is affectionate cheering. Another commenter calls this a "믿고 보는 랴 브이로그" (mitgo boneun rya vlog). 믿고 보는 (mitgo boneun) literally means "watch while trusting." It is a common phrase for something you can count on to be good before you press play. 랴 (rya) looks like a short, affectionate form of 리아 (Lia). Another commenter calls the video "내 금요일 밥친구" (nae geumyoil bapchingu, "my Friday meal buddy"). That means they watch it while eating.
