Today it serves as a key hinterland city on the southwest coast. Held on Samhakdo, where legends and stories coexist, the 목포항구축제 uniquely recreates the traditional pasi(波市) of Mokpo Port, steeped in harbor atmosphere, as a festival for the whole country, bringing its historical value into the spotlight. It is also an autumn festival filled with the romance of Mokpo Port, featuring seasonal seafood auctions and the chance to grill and cook the seafood won at auction right on the spot.
