[100 Days of Lies] The flashback scene that had viewers shouting “Long live Korean independence!”

100 Days of Lies left viewers devastated with a scene inspired by the Jeam-ri massacre after the March First Movement.

Translated from X post

In 100 Days of Lies, the incident that killed Geum Seo-hui, Yu So-ran’s daughter, was based on the Jeam-ri massacre: after the March First Movement, the Japanese military retaliated against the independence movement by gathering residents of Jeam-ri, Suwon County, Gyeonggi Province inside a church, shooting them, and setting it on fire. Even watching it in a drama, it seriously breaks my heart.. pic.twitter.com/VeY9m5UFwx

I really wish people around the world properly understood just how horrific Japan’s atrocities were. The Nazis aren’t the only ones who make my blood boil. Japan learned it from Germany and massacred our people just as brutally, so why is the whole world so lenient only toward Japan? It’s so unfair 😭 I hope more well-made dramas and movies like this get made

This story is so sad and heartbreaking, and I love the independence movement storyline, so I wish they’d spent more time on that than the main romance
