Using a close friend’s charger without asking while you’re sharing a room

Close friend’s charger: ask first or just use it?

Ask firstLetting them know before using it is the polite thing to do. I’d probably use the charger because I needed it, then when my friend came out, I’d say, “My battery was at 10%, and you were showering so I couldn’t ask. I borrowed your charger for a bit.”

Just use itIf you can’t even share a charger with a friend, why are you friends?

If the charger owner says it bothered them, just apologize lolllll

If you say, “Hey, I borrowed your charger for a sec,” as soon as your friend comes out, that’s fine. But if you act like it’s a given, unplug my phone, and keep yours plugged in, I’d be like, huh?

The way I see it, when the owner initially said, “My charger?” it probably wasn’t asking why the friend was using it, just checking whether it was the owner’s. If the friend had said, “Yeah, I urgently needed it, so I borrowed it for a sec. Sorry,” it probably would’ve ended there. But then the friend went, “Am I not allowed to use it?” and that’s probably where the owner got p*ssed. People are calling the owner dramatic, but the friend treated the owner like they were being dramatic first.
