Public sentiment in China is showing little sign of dying down. On the 17th, a hashtag suggesting that AIJING’s parents may have used employee wages to support AIJING’s entertainment career climbed near the top of Weibo’s trending searches, drawing attention. Chinese outlet Yangcheng Evening News urged them to actually repay the debt, reporting to the effect that “no matter how well written an apology is, it’s no substitute for paying back the money.”
