Citizen who rushed into gas explosion site and shut off valve was actor Yoon Dae-yeol

The citizen who prevented further damage by shutting off an open gas cylinder valve at the scene of a gas explosion in an Incheon commercial building has been identified as actor Yoon Dae-yeol, 48. According to Yonhap News and other outlets on the 28th, the gas explosion occurred at around 8:45 a.m. the previous day on the first floor of a commercial building in Majeon-dong, Geomdan-gu. A total of 4 people—3 workers in their 60s and the business owner, also in their 60s—suffered burns to their faces and other areas. They were taken to the hospital by 119 emergency responders and are receiving treatment. Interior demolition work was reportedly underway at a restaurant on the building’s first floor at the time. Yoon, who lives near the scene, witnessed the accident while out for a walk. Since he already knew where the building’s LPG cylinders were located, he spotted 2 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders with their valves open outside the wrecked shop, immediately shut them off, and then called the police.

Meanwhile, Yoon mainly worked as a stage actor before making his film debut in 2014 with Kundo: Age of the Rampant. He later appeared in films including Asura: The City of Madness, The Outlaws, Hunt, and 12.12: The Day.
