울산 국가유산야행 is a nighttime history and culture festival that offers a fresh look at the value of 울산’s national heritage through the relationship between two leaders who guided civil and military affairs in the same Joseon-era district. 울산동헌 및 내아, symbolizing civil governance, and 경상좌도병영성, symbolizing military power, form the festival’s two main stages. Their relationship and conflicts, recorded in the 『세종실록』 and 『명종실록』, are reinterpreted from a contemporary perspective. The stories of these two figures, who held different roles and values, unfold through the flow of “正–反–合.” Moving from confrontation and conflict toward understanding and harmony, the narrative conveys the historical meaning of achieving coexistence beyond conflict. Through performances, exhibitions, hands-on activities, guided interpretation, and nighttime illuminations, visitors of all ages can easily and enjoyably encounter 울산’s history and culture. By weaving the histories of 울산동헌및 내아 and 경상좌도병영성 into one story, this signature nighttime national heritage festival highlights the unique value of each site while vividly expressing 울산’s distinctive regional identity.
