8 happy days with the people, arriving as a festival for citizens. The grandest festival in Joseon history, a journey shared by the people and a benevolent king! Along the route of King Jeongjo’s royal processional in 2026, it reflects on Jeongjo’s intention in 『원행을묘정리의궤』. In 1795, King Jeongjo traveled to Suwon Hwaseong to celebrate the 60th birthday of his mother, Lady Hyegyeong Hong. His 8-day journey was not simply a king’s movement, but a historic event in which joy was shared with the people. Jeongjo’s spirit of caring for the people was recorded in 『원행을묘정리의궤』 and widely distributed. In 2026, the spirit of King Jeongjo is carried forward, and the happy memories of the people are recreated as the happy memories of citizens. 정조대왕 능행차 공동재현 is a festival created through cooperation between Seoul Metropolitan Government, Gyeonggi Province, Suwon City, and Hwaseong City to brilliantly recreate the original form of the '을묘년 화성원행' in the present day.
