Where Will You Stop?

Why Koreans care

The call is 무궁화 꽃이 피었습니다 (mugunghwa kkoci pieotseumnida, “the rose of Sharon has bloomed”), the fixed phrase used in the Korean version of “Red Light, Green Light.” The captions joke that the caller distorts it so heavily that “not even the shape of 무궁화 (mugunghwa, rose of Sharon) remains.”

In the Korean comments

One comment reads, in translation, “Jin and Jung Kook really know how to make this funny,” identifying their comic delivery—not simply the childhood game—as the detail to watch. Another marvels that BTS can make this particular game feel so suspenseful.

What the words mean

어디서 끊을 건데 (eodiseo kkeunheul geonde, where will you stop?)? (eodiseo kkeunheul geonde, literally “Where are you going to cut it off?”) means “At what point are you going to stop the chant?” here. It is a casual, teasing challenge to a caller who keeps manipulating the phrase’s timing.
