The 34th Heungbu Festival, themed on the classic novel Heungbugjeon, is a traditional folk festival hosted by Namwon City, Jeollabuk-do. Celebrating sisterhood, gratitude, sharing, and good fortune, it takes place October 9–11, 2026 at Gwanghallu Garden and surroundings. By city ordinance, Heungbu Festival day is designated as Namwon Citizens' Day. Traditionally held on the 9th day of the 9th lunar month, the date has been adjusted as needed. Under this year's theme 'Heungbu Festival with citizens and small business owners,' the festival expands participation from local merchants. At Gwanghallu Garden you'll find the Heungbu Heritage Marketplace, Jirisan specialty goods stalls, K-food Road with local cuisine, downtown merchant challenges, and golden-gourd-bursting (6–8 meters tall). Events span Joseon-era career experiences, traditional science festival, Namwon Fortress Battle reenactment, Changgeuk Heungbugjeon, Namwon farmers' orchestra competition, and traditional wedding ceremonies—blending heritage with modern entertainment into a destination festival.
