The Hwasun Jeokbyeok Cultural Festival is a local cultural festival held around Hwasun Jeokbyeok and the Iseo Community Center in Iseo-myeon, Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do, Gwangju Metropolitan City. The festival aims to offer visitors and local residents a variety of experiences and things to see by making use of Hwasun Jeokbyeok’s natural scenery and historical and cultural value. Main programs include a Jeokbyeok walking course that lets visitors explore Hwasun Jeokbyeok on foot, a GEO environmental concert that highlights the importance of the environment, Jeokbyeok Wellness Time for mind and body healing, hands-on programs run with local public institutions and organizations, and a market selling local specialty products from Hwasun. In addition, there are exhibitions and an awards ceremony for winning entries from the Jeok youth writing contest, as well as resident-participation programs involving groups such as the Iseo women’s association and the life improvement association. During the festival, free shuttle buses operate, and around 5,000 guests, local residents, and visitors are expected to take part.
