Pileup scene: pointless chaos or tragic setup?

Pointless chaosBut seriously, what's funny about this drama is, why did they go out of their way to film a whole chain-reaction pileup? Lmaoooo, like... what... what was the point?

Tragic setupSpoiler, but Lee Yo-won's character and Nam Gyu-ri's character were sisters, so it was even more tragic. Nam Gyu-ri's character got badly hurt in that crash, fell into a vegetative state, and became a spirit... yeah. Lee Yo-won's character had been orphaned as a child, but it turned out Nam Gyu-ri's character was Lee Yo-won's character's biological younger sister. Because Lee Yo-won's character pulled that stunt, Nam Gyu-ri's character ended up dying in Lee Yo-won's character's place.
