Kim Yoo-jung♥Park Jin-young have a thing going on in the Government-General building, and the detail is insane (100 Days of Lies)

Fans are impressed by how 100 Days of Lies recreated the lives and spaces of 1932 Gyeongseong down to tiny details.

Production designer Yang Hong-sam explained, “To us, 1932 Gyeongseong is the past, but to the people who lived then, it was very much the present.” The focus wasn’t simply on recreating old buildings, but on creating spaces that revealed the lives and desires of the people at the time. In particular, to capture the reality faced by Koreans under colonial rule behind the era’s glamorous modern culture, the team researched everything down to signs, furniture, and everyday household items. Where source material was scarce, they reconstructed the details using architectural styles and records from other countries of the same period as references.

Production designer Yang Hong-sam said, “Some people would have stood by their convictions for independence, while others must have endured a time when simply making it through each day was overwhelming,” adding, “We hoped people today would empathize with and root for the lives and determination of those who lived through that era.”

When I was little, before overseas travel was liberalized, I visited the National Museum of Korea when it was housed in the Government-General building. The interior felt so ornate that I wondered if all the buildings in Europe looked like that...

Seriously, how did the production designer even do this... It’s so impressive...
