The Remarried Empress casting that supposedly swings between Mystery TV: Surprise and Bridgerton

The post compares The Remarried Empress cast with the web novel and webtoon, as costumes and visuals draw sharply divided reactions.

The comments went wild as soon as the official trailer dropped

The drama version of The Remarried Empress is finally here...

As a fan of the original web novel, I was really worried

Drama-version Navier (Shin Min-a)

There were lots of concerns about a black-haired empress, but bold colors suit her better than expected and she doesn't look bad overall

Some of the outfits are kind of ???, but she's so pretty whenever she smiles,,

Drama-version Heinrey (Lee Jong-suk)

When I saw the winking trailer with Mr. Hak-ssi (Choi Dae-hoon's former role), I thought this was not it, but Lee Jong-suk's height and proportions make the uniform work

He's definitely good at this sly-cute-seductive? take on the character, so it would've been huge if this had been filmed in his prime

But black-haired Heinrey is still a bit disappointing

Still, that's better than having Lee Jong-suk go blond and become the main reason it looks like Mystery TV: Surprise, MBC's reenactment show, like Mr. Hak-ssi

Drama-version Sovieshu (Ju Ji-hoon)

Personally, this is the part that makes me groan the most

Sovieshu was supposed to be a gorgeous piece of trash, but the post says this casting looks much older than expected

The hair is disappointing too, and the costume especially looks like something you'd find hanging in the Mystery TV: Surprise wardrobe department

Drama-version Rashta (Lee Se-young)

I thought Rashta would be the most hopeless character to pull off in live action, but she was surprisingly okay

The fake innocent look Rashta puts on whenever trying to get under the empress's skin feels pretty on-point too

Pink outfits + light hair really suit Lee Se-young, which gives the character a bit of a boost too

Looking at them all together, part of me thinks nothing beats the web-novel illustrations, but then again

Considering how much it got mocked, some bits actually look okay lol

The way they talk and the costumes are definitely kind of awkward, and now I want to read the original

Everyone, read the web novel. The web novel is the real deal 😭

I'm curious what everyone else thought!

Ah, Sovieshu's casting... I wish they'd gone with someone pale and cold-looking, like Kim Jae-wook or Lee Soo-hyuk 😭 Give us the romance-fantasy vibe. And what happened to costumes like the web-novel illustrations? 😭😭

I'm such a true fan that I own the entire web novel and webtoon, but it's surprisingly watchable lolllll. I subscribed to Disney+ just to hate-watch it and ended up hooked lol

Honestly, the web novel was a dopamine party and freaking fun right through the middle haha. But as it got toward the end, I started going, “Uh, this is a bit...” lol. It went way too far lolllll
