What happened

DAY6 released "우리의 계절" (Our Season) from The DECADE, an album marking 10 years since their 2015 debut. The song dropped September 5, 2025 via JYP Entertainment, written and composed by bassist Young K, with fellow member WONPIL and producer HONG JI SANG also credited for composition and arrangement.

Why Koreans care

DAY6 is one of the few mainstream K-pop acts that functions as an actual band, with members playing their own instruments and writing much of their own material, unlike most idol groups whose title tracks come from outside production teams. Young K (real name Kang Younghyun) has been the group's primary lyricist since debut, and this release again lists him alongside member WONPIL on the songwriting credits, reinforcing DAY6's identity as a self-produced "band idol" act. The album title The DECADE signals this is a milestone release timed to the group's 10th anniversary since debuting in September 2015, the kind of round-number anniversary JYP-affiliated acts often mark with a themed album.

What the words mean

A literal reading of "우리의 계절" (uriui gyejeol, "our season") might suggest the song is about weather or nature, but in Korean love-song convention, the word for "season" is often used as a metaphor for a phase or period in a relationship - so the title more likely points to "the time we shared" rather than literal weather. Foreign listeners unfamiliar with this lyrical convention could easily miss that emotional framing.
