RM's Vlog: Driving in Germany

What happened

BTS rapper RM films himself driving solo through Germany, visiting a historic housing estate and car museum. Posted on BANGTANTV, the vlog shows him navigating the Weissenhofsiedlung in Stuttgart and merging onto the Autobahn, where roadside signs show shifting speed limits.

Why Koreans care

RM has built a public reputation in Korea as an idol who seeks out art and architecture on his own time, so fans read his stop at the Weissenhofsiedlung — a pioneering 1927 modernist housing exhibit — as true to character rather than a random tourist stop. When he glimpses a distant tower and murmurs "남산 타워야...(?)" (namsan tawoya, "is that Namsan Tower...?"), he's using Seoul's iconic N Seoul Tower on Namsan mountain as a hometown reference point, a common reflex among Korean travelers describing unfamiliar skylines. The comment "내가 드디어... 운전하는 걸 다 보는구나" (I finally get to see him driving) also signals that footage of RM behind the wheel is genuinely rare content for fans, not routine.

In the Korean comments

Several commenters are struck simply by the novelty of watching RM drive at all. One fan wrote, "Wow... I'm finally seeing our Namjoon-sseu (남준쓰, an affectionate nickname built on his real name Kim Namjoon) drive! Namjoon-sseu, be happy!!!" (fandom). Another commenter admitted being unexpectedly absorbed by the low-key footage: "I'm watching this so intently... RM-ah" (fandom) — pointing to how even mundane, unscripted moments hold fans' attention.

What the words mean

When RM spots a tower in the distance and says "남산 타워야...(?)" (namsan tawoya), foreign viewers might think he's genuinely unsure whether it's literally Namsan Tower transplanted to Germany; he's actually making a joking hometown comparison, a common way Korean travelers size up unfamiliar skylines. Similarly, his exclamation "레전드..." (rejeondeu, "legend...") on arriving at the housing estate isn't a literal claim about historical status — it's casual Korean slang for something impressively cool.
