In the Korean comments

Seven of the 15 Korean-language comments in this sample write 가을 (Gaeul) followed by a title. Three use 가을언니 (Gaeul-eonni), two use 가을선배 (Gaeul-seonbae), and one each uses 가을누나 (Gaeul-nuna) and 가을님 (Gaeul-nim). 언니 (eonni, older sister) is what a woman calls an older woman she is close to, and 누나 (nuna) is the same word when the speaker is a man. 선배 (seonbae) means a senior, someone ahead of you at school or work, and 님 (nim) is a polite suffix. All four are everyday terms from family, school or polite speech, here attached to an idol's name. One comment reads, in translation, "Cute like a squirrel going around looking for acorns." Another treats the Short as a new challenge. In translation: "She filmed a new challenge again today, huh? Why is our Gaeul so cute, like an angel? Our Gaeul has become a perfect TikTok master by now."

What the words mean

가을 (gaeul) is the ordinary Korean word for autumn. The title's hashtags #GAEUL and #가을 (Gaeul, the member's name) point to the IVE member Kim Gaeul, not the season. One comment writes her full name, 김가을 (Kim Gaeul), the same way. One comment writes "우리 가을 이" (uri Gaeul i, "our Gaeul") and another writes "울 가을 이도" (ul Gaeul i-do, "our Gaeul too"). Literally that is "our Gaeul". In practice it is a warm, familiar way of referring to someone the speaker is fond of, not a claim that she belongs to anyone. 울 (ul, "our") is a casual short form of the everyday word for "our". 이 (i, friendly name suffix) is added to names that end in a consonant. The register is affectionate and informal. One comment reads "김가을 귀여워서 울었어" (Kim Gaeul gwiyeowoseo ureosseo, "Kim Gaeul is so cute I cried"). Literally, the writer cried. It reads as an exaggerated way of saying the cuteness was overwhelming, in a casual register, not as sadness. Another comment ends with "귀엽다아 ㅠㅠ" (gwiyeopda-a, "so cute," plus ㅠㅠ, a typed crying face), so tears sit next to "cute" there too.
